Il pilota della Mercedes George Russell ha ricevuto tre posizioni di penalità in vista della Sprint Race che si correrà a mezzanotte, ora italiana. Il numero 63 ha ostacolato il giro lanciato di Charles Leclerc durante il Q1 della qualifica shootout. I due si trovavano in Curva 19 quando Russell ha tagliato la strada allo scudiero della Ferrari.
