Con la sconfitta della sua Inter per mano del Manchester City, Simone Inzaghi è diventato l’ottavo allenatore italiano a perdere una finale di Champions League. Il tecnico dei nerazzurri si aggiunge nell’ordine a Fulvio Bernardini (Fiorentina 1957), Giuseppe Viani (Milan 1958), Giovanni Invernizzi (Inter 1972), Fabio Capello (Milan 1993 e 1994), Marcello Lippi (Juventus 1997, 1998 e 2003), Carlo Ancelotti (Milan 2005) e Massimiliano Allegri (Juventus 2015 e 2017). Proprio Lippi detiene il record di maggior numero di finali perse (3), insieme a Jurgen Klopp (Borussia Dortmund 2013, Liverpool 2018 e 2022).
