È Nick Schultz ad aggiudicarsi la prima tappa della Volta a Catalunya, la Sant Feliu de Guixols-Sant Feliu de Guixols di 173,9 chilometri. L’australiano trova l’allungo decisivo negli ultimi chilometri, resistendo al ritorno negl ultimi metri di Tadej Pogacar, giunto secondo davanti al britannico Stephen Williams. L’Israel Premier Tech porta quindi due uomini sul podio, con il solo fenomeno della UAE Team Emirates nel mezzo. Ovviamente Schultz si prende anche la maglia di leader della generale, che indosserà domani nella Matarò-Vallter 2000 di 187 chilometri con arrivo in salita.
